About SAC

The Student Activity Council at Earl Haig Secondary School has long been the heartbeat of student life on campus. We are a student-led body that works alongside staff and administration to shape the kinds of activities, events, and opportunities that make high school memorable and meaningful.

Earl Haig, in North York, Toronto, is part of the Toronto District School Board and serves a diverse, engaged student body. SAC exists to reflect that diversity and that engagement: we plan spirit weeks, cultural celebrations, fundraisers, and leadership initiatives that give every student a chance to participate. Whether you are new to the school or in your final year, there is a place for you in what we do.

Our work ties directly into the wider goals of Earl Haig—academic excellence, arts, athletics, and community involvement. SAC does not replace those; we complement them by creating spaces where students can lead, collaborate, and build skills outside the standard curriculum. Many of our events also support school-wide priorities and local causes, reinforcing the school’s role in the broader Toronto community.

If you want to understand who we are and how we operate, take a look at our about page for more on our history, structure, and values. You can also see what we’re running right now in programs and events, and how you can get involved through our community section.

Community & Participation

Participation at SAC can look different for everyone. Some students join as elected or appointed members and help run meetings and plan events. Others get involved by attending events, volunteering for a single initiative, or simply staying informed and showing up when it matters.

We aim to keep barriers to participation low. You do not need to be in a specific grade or program to take part. What we do care about is that our events and programs reflect the diversity of Earl Haig and the communities we serve in North York and the rest of Toronto. Ontario’s emphasis on inclusive, equitable education is something we take seriously in how we design and promote what we do.

If you are a student, check our events page and school announcements for upcoming activities. If you are a parent, guardian, or community partner interested in how SAC works or how you might support us, our contact page has the right channels to get in touch. Building a stronger school community is something we do together.
