Our Programs
SAC coordinates a range of programs that run across the school year. Each one is designed to give students real roles and real impact—whether that is building school spirit, leading a committee, or supporting causes in our community.
Spirit & School Pride
Spirit weeks and theme days are a staple of Earl Haig life. SAC plans these in partnership with athletics, arts, and other groups so that the whole school can participate. Themes might tie into seasons, holidays, or school milestones. The goal is always the same: to strengthen a sense of belonging and pride in being part of Earl Haig. Pep rallies and similar events give students a chance to come together and support their teams and peers. If you have ideas for themes or activities, our contact page is the place to share them.
Leadership & Committees
SAC relies on student leaders who take on planning, budgeting, and coordination. We organize into committees so that responsibilities are clear and manageable. Students can get involved in event planning, communications, or outreach. This structure mirrors how many organizations work beyond high school and gives practical experience in teamwork and project management. Positions are typically filled at the start of the year or as needed; details are announced through the school and on our events page when we have information sessions or elections.
Fundraising & Charity
We run fundraisers and awareness campaigns that support local and global causes. Past initiatives have included food drives, charity weeks, and campaigns aligned with TDSB and Ontario priorities around community engagement. Students often propose causes and help design the campaigns. If your club or class wants to collaborate on a fundraiser, reaching out through the school or our contact page is the first step. We are always open to ideas that connect Earl Haig with the wider Toronto and Canadian community.
Cultural & Social Events
Earl Haig’s diversity is one of its strengths. SAC supports events that celebrate different cultures and bring students together in social, inclusive settings. These might be cultural nights, mixers, or activities that highlight heritage months and awareness days. We aim for events that are welcoming to all grades and backgrounds. Planning often involves student groups and staff to ensure authenticity and safety. For dates and details, check the events calendar and school announcements.
Student Voice & Advocacy
Student voice is central to what SAC does. We provide channels for students to share ideas, concerns, and feedback with the council and with the school. That might mean suggestion boxes, surveys, or representation in meetings. We do not promise that every idea will be implemented—schools have real constraints—but we do commit to listening and, where possible, advocating for change. If you want to understand how participation works more broadly, our community page explains the different ways to get involved.
